How Oregon Volunteers are Making a Difference at OSCI
At Oregon Spinal Cord Injury Connection (OSCI), volunteers do much more than donate their time—they help build a stronger, more connected community for people living with spinal cord injuries throughout Oregon.
If you’re looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities, OSCI offers many ways to make a lasting impact. Whether you have a few hours to give every so often or want to become a longer-term volunteer, your time and efforts make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Volunteer Opportunities That Build Independence
OSCI’s mission is to ensure people living with spinal cord injuries have the resources, relationships, and support they need to thrive. Volunteers help bring that mission to life every day.
You might assist at a community event, help prepare the Mortensen House for guests, welcome visitors during a volunteer workday, support outreach efforts, or lend professional skills in areas like marketing, photography, landscaping, maintenance, administration, or fundraising.
Every volunteer brings unique talents. Together, those contributions help expand OSCI’s programs and strengthen our statewide community.
Supporting the Mortensen House and Beyond
The Mortensen House, Oregon’s first transitional home for people living with spinal cord injuries, is one example of how volunteers make a difference.
From landscaping and painting to organizing supplies and preparing the home for guests, volunteer teams help create a welcoming, accessible space where individuals can rebuild confidence before returning home.
Volunteers also support educational events, adaptive recreation, peer support activities, fundraising initiatives, and community outreach throughout the year.
Join the OSCI Volunteer Community
You don’t need experience with spinal cord injuries to make a difference. Compassion, reliability, and a willingness to help are the most valuable skills you can bring.
When you volunteer with OSCI, you become part of a community committed to increasing independence, reducing isolation, and improving lives across Oregon.
Whether you’re an individual, family, business, civic group, or student organization, we’d love to welcome you.
