Last week I (Matt Howard, @mhoward90) had the opportunity to go spend a couple nights at The Getaway Houses (@getawayhouse) accessible cabin near Mt. Adams. The purpose of The Getaway Houses is to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. There is no cell phone reception or wifi. The cabins are small but were large enough for my housemate, myself, and two large dogs. They are dog friendly! There is staff nearby that can be contacted using the in cabin phone.
From an accessibility standpoint I would give the cabin a 7/10. The cabins are small but I was able to maneuver around well enough in my manual chair. The bathroom is probably the highlight. Is a large bathroom with a shower that has a fold down bench and detachable shower head. One comment on the interior that could be improved is the kitchen table doesn’t fold away which can hinder movement. To get into the cabin there is a platform with a 1-2 inch lip. Leading up to the lip is soft gravel that can make getting onto the platform a little difficult.
Overall I was very pleased with my experience and will definitely be going back. Please let me know if you have any questions.
